BIO
Miriam Steinberg | 1975 | Dutch | Design Academy | Rietveld Academy | self-taught
She started her career in 1998, and for allmost 25 years she has worked as a freelance graphic designer on different types of projects and for a variation of clients. These days, she mainly focuses on her own art, but she still works on client-based projects.

The interaction between these two worlds strengthens her work. Her graphic background is reflected in form and structure. Photographic imagery forms the foundation, landscapes are the subject. She loves to head out into nature and immerse herself in the moment, but also the view from her studio in France continues to inspire. The captured moments are developed using a mix of materials and techniques, with a fascination for resin. The layering of materials makes her work very tactile.

“Landscapes are my source of inspiration, and I experiment freely with various cameras, materials and printing techniques. I use what nature shows me and create extra depth in what already exists. Like a visual dance of the environment with a graphic interpretation. Depending on the image I choose technique and materials. They each have their own characteristics that influence the overall image to create a unique experience with disruptive elements, arousing curiosity. Creating the type of peace and space in which one wants to retreat with complete surrender.”

Currently she reside inbetween The Netherlands and France where she has a studio.
